If you’ve ever had to take medication on a regular basis, you know it can be a pain. I did for years, and the only way I could remember was to leave it next to my toothbrush to benefit from the visual cue. Unfortunately, my little method fell apart more than once when travelling.
We all know being away from home throws routine down the toilet. Out of sight, out of mind.
The problem is compounded if you need to take several medications at various times in the day. And the holidays, being one of the busiest times in the year for travel (and juggling fifty things at once), make sticking to a schedule tricky. All too often, people end up in hospital because they’ve taken too much, or too little, of the medication they need.
Medication dosettes are especially handy for travel.
Fortunately, the solution may be found in a variety of candy-colored plastic containers. Scott Walker, Sunnybrook’s director of pharmacy, says medication dosettes are a simple way of pre-packing your pills by day of the week and dosing time. You’ll see right away if you took your pill, and better yet, if you are about to run out. If your holiday plans include leaving home, this is the perfect time to get the refills you’ll need.
Walker offers some other simple yet effective tips, which you can watch in my video.
Whether it’s for you, or a loved one, I hope you find it helpful.
